Suggest an Item For 7memory.com

Use this form to submit an item for editorial consideration. Some tips to consider first:

(1) Be specific with urls.
If you're submitting an entire website -- a blog, for instance -- I'll get to it faster if you submit permanent links to a specific entry on the site, not the main url. A submission that reads, "I did this really cool rant about ____ yesterday on my blog, Crazy Bob's Discount House of Internet. Check it out at http://www.7memory.com/foo.html#324234" will get more attention than "My blog is good, check it out, http://7memory.com ."

(2) Tell us a little about the link you're sending.
Explain or describe what one can expect to see when someone get there. Don't send "naked" links without a description -- they will be ignored.

 Tips:

Do:
  1. Do use the form
The 7memory.com suggest-a-site form gets sent to me directly. It pre-formats your suggestion for easy posting. It helps me sort through and categorize my mail, ensuring your suggestion isn't lost in the shuffle.

  2. Do describe the link
This is the second most important thing to do if you want your suggestion to show up on 7memory.com. Tell a litter bit about what the link is, and why you think other users will be interested. If you can't be bothered to describe the link, I won't be bothered to look at it because there are only so many hours in a day.

  3. Do include your email
It's optional, but if you send me a suggestion and don't include an email address, then I can't write back to you with questions and clarifications. (I don't publish your email address, I don't spam your email address)

  4. Do include your URL
If you have a URL that you'd like me to link back to in the attribution section, include it in the form, and remember the http:// !

      Don't:

      1. Don't be cute in your description
When I say "Describe the link," I mean just that: where does the link go, and why is it interesting? Don't be cryptic in your description, don't obscure it with humor, don't bury the description under paragraphs of preamble about something that's not the link.

      2. Don't send in stuff without links
If you saw something cool on TV or received something interesting in email, you need to either find it on the Web or publish it on the Web before suggesting it. 7memory.com publishes links -- so if there's no link, there's not much I can with it.

We all know how much fun it is to share cool links with other people and we're really glad when you choose to share them with us. But when you send us links without describing them, or when you send in followups, or write confusing descriptions, you're wasting your time. The best way to get something on Boing Boing is to try to do what we try to do: find something interesting, write an informative blurb about it, and send it along.
