I am a second-year undergraduate student at Ä¢¹½TV majoring
in Psychology with a concentration in Cognition & Neuroscience. I am working alongside
Dr. Starlette Sinclair in her research lab, and currently working predominantly on
her ongoing Metacognition project. As I continue my academic journey, my goal is to
apply for a Ph.D. in Neuroscience upon completion of my undergraduate studies.
My research interests primarily involve the neurological structures that contribute
to cognitive and psychopathological processes throughout development from birth through
young adulthood (with major emphasis on puberty). I believe that adolescent psychopathology,
development, and cognitive process is often overlooked and under-researched, especially
in the light of puberty and how that affects the mind and body.
To summarize, my research interests are primarily neuroscientific, cognitive, and
developmental, with psychopathology adding a touch of clinical. I hope to integrate
all of these into my future work.
I have worked with children for the past four years through a vocational program in
my previous high school (which then extended onwards into paid work outside of school)
for the hands-on psychological experience into the mind of children and adolescents
it gave. I went as far as to obtain my Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
from the Council for Professional Recognition which required much study into child
development. I have found this life experience very valuable and hope to continue
it throughout my undergraduate career, as I find this personal connection with the
age group I hope to research helps me understand them on a level perhaps lost to other
researchers.
