I have honed my teaching skills through active practice at Mekelle University's School of Civil Engineering. My student-centred teaching approach consistently receives excellent student reviews, emphasizing a balance between theory and real-world applications, encouraging interaction, collaboration, and mutual support. My experience spans Bachelor and Master programs in Civil and Water Resource Engineering, covering subjects from Engineering Fluid Mechanics to advanced graduate courses.
As a leading expert in Civil and Water Resource Engineering, I have conducted groundbreaking research. My work utilizes explanatory data analysis and hydrological modeling to understand the intricate interplay between water, sediment, nutrients, and their impact on freshwater quality. Currently, I am pioneering advanced hydrological and water quality modeling techniques. This approach integrates cutting-edge data visualization through GIS within the SAS-Viya environment. Looking ahead, I plan to harness the power of space-based technologies like cloud data analysis and advancements in machine learning to tackle critical sustainable water management challenges arising from climate change, agricultural intensification, and urban expansion.

I received several grants from prestigious organizations such as the World Bank, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, DAAD and BMZ of Germany, the Orskov Foundation of England, and the Blue Nile Water Institute of Ethiopia.
