
Said, Mohamed Fathi (Ph.D.)
Dr. Mohamed Fathi Said has expertise in surface hydrologic simulation, climate change
analysis, geomorphological modeling, and flood mapping, employing both physics-based
methods and deep learning (DL) techniques. His academic background and teaching experience
span a broad spectrum of Civil Engineering topics, reflecting a longstanding dedication
to hydrological and environmental studies since his undergraduate years. Currently,
Dr. Said's research centers on leveraging advanced DL tools to address critical challenges
in water resource management. Through his work, he is deeply committed to teaching
and mentoring engineering students, aiming to inspire them and equip them with the
skills and vision needed to become the next generation of researchers and leaders
in the water resources field.
Dr. Said’s research has significantly advanced the field of environmental modeling
and has been published in leading journals such as Water Resources Research, Environmental
Modelling & Software, Journal of Hydrology, Water Resources Management, and Scientific
Reports. His impactful contributions have been recognized through several awards,
including the Outstanding Doctoral Student Award from the College of Engineering and
the prestigious 2025 Paul F. Boulos Excellence in Computational Hydraulics/Hydrology
Award, presented by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists
(AAEES) in partnership with the AEESP.
