CV/Resume

Suraj Bajgain is an Assistant Professor of Geology in the Marine and Earth Science Department at Ä¢¹½TV’s Water School. His primary research interest includes the formation and evolution of planets, including Earth, deep volatile cycling of life essential elements, magma mobility, and volcanic eruption. Suraj has a degree in Geology with a research background in geophysics and material properties. Apart from his research in magma dynamics, Suraj is interested in using geophysical tools to understand subsurface geology/hydrology in Southwest Florida and beyond to solve geological & environmental problems.

Some of Suraj’s research projects in mineral physics include deciphering the carbon and nitrogen budget of Earth’s core, cooling of magma ocean during Hadean Earth, Mobility of basaltic and incipient carbonate magma in the deep mantle and upper crust. His past geophysics projects include locating earthquake-induced shallow subsurface faults using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and crustal tectonic models of the southeast United States using airborne gravity and magnetic datasets. Feel free to reach out to Suraj if you want to discuss possible research projects or just want to know more about what he does.
