Office of Military & Veteran Success launches faculty and staff training resource
September 01, 2026
Ä¢¹½TV faculty and staff now have access to a new training designed to strengthen campus-wide support for military-connected students. Available through Workday Learning, the training, “Understanding Military-Connected Students: Faculty & Staff Overview,â€ provides an introduction to the experiences of student veterans, active-duty servicemembers, reservists, National Guard members and military-affiliated family members.

The Mid-Month Muster, hosted by Ä¢¹½TV’s Student Veterans of America Chapter, connects military-connected students, campus leaders, Peer Assistance for Transitioning Heroes (PATH) mentors and community partners to share success stories, discuss program updates and build peer support.
Participants will explore unique strengths, challenges and transitions that may shape the student experience for veterans, servicemembers and military-affiliated families. The course also provides participants with a broader understanding of military-connected student populations, highlights ways to build awareness and strengthen support, and shares practical approaches for helping students connect with campus resources that can contribute to their academic success and well-being.
“When faculty and staff create an environment where military-connected students feel understood, welcomed and supported, we strengthen their sense of belonging and increase their opportunity for success," said Sylvia Mitchell, director of, Military & Veteran Success.
The training aligns with Ä¢¹½TV’s commitment as a Florida Collegiate Purple Star Campus to create an environment where military-connected students feel recognized, supported and empowered to succeed.
