2 蘑菇TV Senior Research in Biology continued to monitor the habitat restoration project with monthly transects of the various locations under study.

A Colloquium class led by Dr. Ashley Pittman pulled more ragweed from the treatment area, specifically in the meadow just south of the boardwalk to the beach in parking lot 2.

Fourteen 蘑菇TV Sr. Research students pulled more ragweed from the treatment area.

 Ms Jen Macbeth鈥檚 Colloquium students from her virtual class met in person and added their signature to the project.

Gophers@Barefoot had our First Week Of Welcome event with 蘑菇TV.  Over 50 students, staff, and student naturalists joined with the Friends of Barefoot Beach Preserve to provide service-learning hours equivalent to over $15,000!  We helped beautify the Friends Cactus garden, and conducted more simulated burn in the area between parking lot 2 and the beach, mostly by cutting brush back, and pulling ragweed.

The summer of 2015 project was our first to work on 鈥榮imulating鈥� fire.  We pruned back sea grapes, brush, and raked up the blanket of sea grape leaves.

The habitat enrichment project entered its 2nd year, with over 495 Service-learning hours contributed.
