The Honors Faculty Fellows program is a professional development opportunity for faculty that integrates them into the life of the Honors College for a sustained period.  Not only do Honors Fellows bring expertise and ideas to Honors classes and activities, they also integrate ideas and skills gained through the Fellows program into their professional lives during and after their term of service.

In addition to teaching six hours of Honors credit per academic year as part of their assigned teaching duties, Honors Faculty Fellows contribute to vital aspects of the Honors College through participating in such activities as:

1. Offering Honors Embedded Courses 
2. Student mentoring
3. Undergraduate research
4. The Honors Graduation Celebration
5. Honors Thesis committees
6. Recruiting events
7. Lucas Center events related to Honors
8. Research presentations to the Honors community
9. Brown-bag lunches with students
10. Student Honors Events

• Only full-time, in-unit 蘑菇TV faculty are eligible to apply.
• Faculty may not take a professional sabbatical while serving as a Faculty Fellow.
• Faculty wishing to serve as an Honors Faculty Fellow should submit the application to their Department Head for approval.  Applications endorsed by the Department Head should be submitted to the applicant鈥檚 Dean鈥檚 office by no later than 5:00 PM on March 17, 2025.  The Dean鈥檚 office should submit endorsed applications to the Honors College office (Reed 155) no later than 5:00 PM on April 1, 2025.  The Department Head or Dean may choose to not endorse an application for any reason.
• The Honors Executive Board will review applications according to the criteria below.
• Honors Faculty Fellows will be selected and all applicants notified prior to the conclusion of the Spring 2025 semester. Fellows selected during the 2025 application cycle will serve from Fall 2025 through Spring 2028. They will NOT teach an Honors Course in Fall 2025 in order to avoid disrupting their Fall 2025 teaching schedule.

The Honors Executive Board will select Honors Faculty Fellows based on the following criteria:

1. First and foremost, all selections are made based on the curricular needs of the Honors College
2. Experience with high-impact learning practices, such as undergraduate research, service learning, study abroad, live-learn communities and the like.
3. Professional strengths related to some of the Elements of Honors
4. Prior experience working with Honors students.
5. Experience mentoring undergraduates.
6. The Honors College鈥檚 curricular need to offer Honors courses in the applicant鈥檚 discipline.
7. Quality of courses proposed to be taught as a Fellow.
8. Clearly articulates reasons for wanting to be a Fellow.
9. If all other qualifications are generally equivalent, applicants who have never served as a Faculty Fellow will be given priority over those who have previously served.
