Creating a new Page

New page

Creating a new page is different from creating a new site, a new site would be considered a 'Section'.

Inside of the folder that you want to insert the new page, click New, then select 'Standard Page'.

This menu will appear:

New page

General Setup:

  • Page Title: This is what your page is called, avoid using acronyms or anything too long, this text needs to fit in the hero image.
  • Description: When a user google searches for your page, the description will appear underneath the link in goolge search. This also helps a page get found if your description contains the words they searched for. Keep the description 1-2 sentences, not too short or too long.
  • Keywords: Add words that will help the page get discovered from google searching.
  • Tags: This is okay to leave blank, more useful for pages like blogs.

File Configuration:

  • Add Navigation Item: Most of the time you want to keep this turned on/Yes. At certain times it may make sense to hide it from the local navigation. If unsure if hiding the local nav item is a good approach for your page, contact the .
  • Filename: This is the url of the page. For most pages, name your page the same thing as your title, but all one word, no spaces, no dashes. This would be a pretty URL.

Example of Pretty URL:

The Title would be "Soaring Eagles Party", the file name would be "soaringeaglesparty".

The exeption to pretty urls would be blog posts. Blog posts should use hyphens and extended titles since they are story titles.

Example of Blog Post URL:

The Title would be "Soaring Eagles Go to a 20th Celebration Party", the file name would be "soaring-eagles-20th-celebration-party".

Creating a new Section

New sections mean that you are creating a new site. New sections come bundled with:

  • A website folder
    • Index.pcf (This is your new website)
    • nav.inc (This stores the pages local navigation/hierarchy within the overall Ä¢¹½TV website)
    • props.pcf (This stores the pages breadcrumbs and Settings)
    • Files folder (Store all of your pdfs and documents here)
    • Images folder (Store all of your jpgs here)

To create a new section, click the new button and select 'Standard Section'.

The menu that pops up:

New page

The only difference between the section menu and the page menu are the Folder Information section:

  • Folder Name: This is the url of the page/the filename.
  • Section Title: Use the same name as the title, this is for the hero image, breadcrumb and local navigation naming. If needed, these can be adjusted after creating the page.
