When you've saved your changes and are ready to make a page live, you look for the green publish button:
Left clicking the arrow on the right of the box will provide a way to schedule a post, submit the post for approval, or to add an expiration to the page.
Clicking the text, 'Publish' rather than the drop down will bring up this menu:
Three boxes show up that will check your pages for each type of error.
1. Spelling errors: This checker will provide similar spell checking to a word document. These aren't
always errors, but be sure to double check.
Click 'Show Results' to see specifically what it's seeing as an error. If it's a name,
location, or obscure name, ignore the error. If it catches anything that you really
spelt wrong, go back and correct it.
2. Link errors: This will check if any hyperlinks are going to broken pages. If you haven't published this page or the pages it's linking to, to production, it may mark those pages as broken. If all of the pages being marked as broken will be going live, ignore those and check for only pages that have gone live already that are throwing errors.
3. Accessibility: This checker will show you which items are throwing ADA errors. This check is the most important to be green. Please review the ADA guide if you are having errors. If the errors are unable to be fixed, please contact .
Publish Target
Selecting this drop down, you will have two targets:
1. Webdev: This is a testing environment, you can publish to this target and you will be able
to preview all your edits without worrying about students seeing the page. These pages
will not be seen by Google, but the link can be shared to colleagues if you send the
url to others.
Example: webdev.fgcu.edu/advancement
2. Production: This publish target is to make a page go live. Students will see this page and Google
will show the page once it's been crawled. Google may take time to crawl the page
depending on the SEO (tags, descriptions, number of views) of the page. Make sure
to contact us via the form if you are publish a site for the first time.
Example: www.fgcu.edu/advancement
Once you've selected your publish target, click Publish and a url will appear at the bottom of the screen in which you can click and view your newly published page.
